Cologne is one of the oldest and at the same time most enduring forms of perfumery, whose history dates back to the classic Eau de Cologne of the 18th century. Today, the word “cologne” rarely refers only to concentration — much more often it designates a style: a bright citrus opening, transparent structure, and refreshing character.
Modern colognes have largely lost their utilitarian role and have become full-fledged masculine fragrances, while still retaining their main mission — to deliver a sense of freshness. This style fits perfectly into a summer wardrobe, when one longs for something light, energetic, and unobtrusive, equally suitable for the office, leisure, or sport. One of the best examples of a modern cologne in the luxury segment is Allure Homme Sport Cologne.
I would describe the vertical structure of the composition in four blocks:
• Aldehydes. The brand’s signature components. C10, C-11 Undecylic, C12 Lauric, and C-12 MNA create a sensation of freshness and cleanliness.
• Citruses. Following the aldehydes comes a citrus blend of 13% Sicilian Lemon, 4% Yellow Mandarin, and 2% Calabrian Bergamot, setting a fresh, sour lemonade-like tone in the opening. The terpenic character of lemon here is reinforced by the peppery–citrusy oil of elemi resin and the coniferous fir balsam.
• White florals. The body of the white-floral block is Hedione High Cis, which makes up over 26%. It not only softens the dense aldehydes but also breathes air into the citrus notes, enhancing their sillage and longevity.
• Musks. It's one of the most exemplary white musk accords in perfumery:
17% Ethylene Brassylate>
5% Habanolide
3% Helvetolide
0.5% Muscenone Delta
0.2% Cashmeran
This mix creates the impression of soft cleanliness, as if you were putting on a freshly washed and steam-ironed white shirt. Thanks to the transparent white-floral block, the musk accord connects seamlessly with the aldehydes at the top, producing the effect of timeless purity, adorned with a touch of sour lemon.
Olfactory profile: citrus, aldehydic, floral, musky.
Concentration: eau de toilette.
