When looking at the brand’s alcoholic collection, Apple Brandy is closer to my taste than Angel’s Share. It’s not so overly sweet or alcoholic. Here we have one of the most realistic apple notes in perfumery, perfectly blended with the brandy accord to create a seamless scent of strong and fruity alcohol. Cedar sweetened with vanilla forms the body of the entire composition. Thanks to 6% Ambroxan, the fragrance has decent longevity.
After getting acquainted with the original, I couldn’t shake the feeling for a long time that something was missing. The weak sillage and longevity only reinforced this impression. Upon analyzing the formula, I noticed the complete absence of Hedione — the cornerstone of modern perfumery. And indeed, without Hedione, the composition lacked transparency and airiness. Iso E Super came through strongly in the base, giving a murky and sour woody tone, while the vanilla felt cloying. This time, I decided not to strictly follow the original formula and added a moderate amount of Hedione, which significantly improved the final scent. To compensate for Hedione’s tendency to reduce intensity, I diluted the final fragrance to 25%, which is probably about 5–7% higher than the original.
Olfactory profile: fruity, boozy, woody, sweet.
Concentration: parfum.
