If I had to describe Elysium in two words, I would say — a modernized Aventus.
It’s hard not to notice their similarity — both have a powerful citrus block, reinforced by the green juiciness of blackcurrant and apple. Oily pink pepper and galbanum are already classics in masculine formulas. The combination of Ambroxan and Helvetolide is in an identical dosage. The only difference is that while Aventus’ woody block leans on patchouli, Elysium is built on vetiver, which supports grapefruit in the top notes, extending its tart freshness into the base. The note of juniper berries makes Elysium electric, charging it with spicy freshness and piney fruitiness.
The word “Cologne” in the name refers not so much to the fragrance concentration as to its character — fresh, light, and citrusy.
