For those who are into perfumery and familiar with niche fragrances, Ganymede hardly needs any special introduction. And I wouldn’t be able to properly describe what it smells like without slipping into ingredient-specific terminology.

Named after Jupiter’s largest moon, the fragrance already hints at being inspired by something otherworldly. And indeed, it turned out mineral, sterile, and lifeless. To soften this gloominess, the composition includes some of the most beautiful and expensive natural ingredients: osmanthus, immortelle, saffron, and nutmeg. They complement the mineral and sterile tone so well that any other choice of ornaments would likely have ruined it.

Many assume that the mineral quality comes from the captive Akigalawood, but that’s not the case. Akigalawood is a product of the fraction processing of patchouli. Its scent does resemble patchouli, but cleaner, with woody-spicy nuances. Since it’s a captive ingredient, I replaced it with the most suitable alternative — the Akigala Extreme base.

The final compound turned out just as long-lasting and with equal sillage. I recommend no more than three sprays.

Olfactory profile: mineral, spicy
Concentration: eau de parfum.
