Pacific Chill is the realization of the idea of a Californian detox drink in perfumery, where all citruses, berries, and greens are brought together to create a refreshing and invigorating sensation in the summer heat.
The structure of the fragrance has all the hallmarks of a modern cologne — a strong citrus block, complemented by herbs, spices, and fruity molecules on a large amount of soft musk. The citrus content includes:
• 12% Sweet Orange
• 12% Sicilian Lemon
• 8% Methyl Pamplemousse (a grapefruit note that adds peel realism)
• 2.5% Citron
1.6% coriander and 1.3% peppermint provide sharpness and edge, giving the citruses a brighter, fresher start, while also lifting the heavy lactonic apricot accord built on Veloutone, Gamma Undecalactone, and a large amount of carrot seed oil (3.2%).
The base of Pacific Chill is almost entirely composed of a single material on which this detox-smoothie concept is built: 20% Scentolide, responsible for the ambrette note. This single ingredient alone makes Pacific Chill the most expensive fragrance in the line by cost, surpassing such pricey creations as Tygar, Imagination, Elysium, and Aventus. Although I don’t fully understand the reasoning behind such a large dose of Scentolide, its role in the composition is more than justified, as it helps reveal powdery-floral notes and reinforces the fruity-berry aspects, stretching them into the base.
Olfactory profile: citrus, fruity, green, floral, musky.
Concentration: parfum.
*I suspect that in most cases, when attempting to copy Pacific Chill, a cheaper and less diffusive Ambrettolide is used by other brands and enthusiasts to save on budget. For this reason, I state honestly that I only use Scentolide and follow the formula strictly. Since this musk is not always easy to source, the Pacific Chill compound will most likely be available only on a pre-order basis.
